SharePoint 2013 – The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service

Error

The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service.

Solution

1. Central Administration
2. Application Management
3. Manage Web Applications
4. Select the Web Application
5. Ribbon: Service Connections
6. Search Application must be checked

If you don’t se any Search Application, do the following

1. Central Administration
2. Application Management
3. Manage Service Applications
4. New -> Search Service Application
5. Now you can see it in Service Connections
